Agora Princess Margaret International School

OUR MISSION: To edify students in the fullest sense, motivating them to discover and achieve their full potential. To help them to build their own identity, while respecting themselves and their environment in order to be able to contribute to the improvement of society

OUR VISION: To be the leading school in personalized, innovative and international education in Barcelona, by enabling our pupils to overcome the challenges of a global world.

OUR VALUES: Who we are; the way we are? Our values make us who we are; to be authentic, genuine, to be distinctive from others, and encourage ourselves to behave the way we do. These are the principles of academic achievement that define our values at Princess Margaret International School.

SOLIDARITY: We understand solidarity from the sense of belonging to a group based on multiple interests. The school is an ideal environment where we behave in solidarity with the peers, teachers and parents who form it. As well to incorporate it into our lives, and put it into practice in our surroundings thereby improving a little more each day.

TOLERANCE: Our culture, customs and habits make us view the world in a specific way. However there are many ways to view and experience the world. In a multi-cultural society like ours, being tolerant differing or even conflicting points of view to our own, is a sign of personal growth and inner fulfilment.

RESPECT: The diversity of our environment requires us to integrate with empathy, what we find different, highlighting the ideals of cooperation. It also means tolerating those who may be unlike us whilst respecting them by completely appreciating the wealth that cultural diversity brings.

RESPONSIBILITY: All of our actions have consequences. Everything we do affects people or things. We believe in the basis of educating in responsibility by assuming commitment and obligations being relentless and perseverant. A more accountable world is a more understanding and happy world.

HONESTY: School has to be the setting where norms of basic coexistence are strengthened in line with out principles. By acting with strength of character to seek beyond indiviual benefit, collective benefit signifies behaving honestly. We educate to bring honesty to wherever we may be, from school to family and ourselves, to whichever community we may belong.

CREATIVITY: The world is in constant flux. To be able to face the world these days is to know how to adapt to change, to be able to resolve new situations which confront us every day. This cannot be absorbed, it has to be learned. To be creative is to be able to confront new challenges; therefore we teach to strengthen the flow of critical and creative thought, the flexibility to adapt, originality of ideas, the capability to synthesize and analyse, the opportunity to reorganise and redefine oneself, ideological receptiveness and the ability to appreciate others.

Princess Margaret International School is an IB school. We are part of the set of schools recognized worldwide by the International Baccalaureate applying the PYP (Primary Years Program) and MYP (Middle Years Program).

IB World Schools share a common philosophy: a commitment to a rigorous and quality international education we consider important for our students. Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: Primary Years Programme (PEP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (PD) or the Carreer-related Programme (CP). For more information about the IB and its programmes, visit http://www.ibo.org. The IB is an innovative and international method that requires continuous training of the teaching staff, obtaining clear and tangible results. Currently we are the first and only school in Barcelona to obtain the official PYP certification with 5 special mentions, 3 of which highlighted the excellent cohesion of the whole school team. Belonging to the I.B. is an honour and a responsibility. This innovative programme requires the effort and cohesion of the entire teaching team. The aim of the I.B. programmes is not only to stimulate the student to stand out in their studies but also to motivate them to constantly search for learning and new knowledge, openly, ethically and enthusiastically. We seek their academic and personal growth. The IB forms students who incorporate the following attributes: Inquirers They develop their natural curiosity. They acquire the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and show independence in learning. They actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives. Knowledgeable They explore concepts, ideas and issues that have local and global significance. In so doing, they acquire in-depth knowledge and develop understanding across a broad and balanced range of disciplines. Thinkers They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical decisions. Communicators They understand and express ideas and information confidently and creatively in more than one language, and in a variety of modes of communication. They work effectively and willingly in collaboration with others. Principled They act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness, justice and respect for the dignity of the individual, groups and communities. They take responsibility for their own actions and the consequences that accompany them. Open-minded They understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, and are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and communities. They are accustomed to seeking and evaluating a range of points of view, and are willing to grow from the experience. Caring They show empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and feelings of others. They have a personal commitment to service, and act to make a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment. Risk-takers They approach unfamiliar situations and uncertainty with courage and forethought, and have the independence of spirit to explore new roles, ideas and strategies. They are brave and articulate in defending their beliefs. Balanced They understand the importance of intellectual, physical and emotional balance to achieve personal well-being for themselves and others. Reflective They give thoughtful consideration to their own learning and experience.
